New ‘Batman’ game reportedly in the pipeline

What could it be?

According to XboxEra co-founder Nick Baker, Rocksteady is working on a new Batman game.

Known as Shpeshal_Nick on X/Twitter, he posted “Not sure which studio people’s dream is, but I heard Rocksteady are back making it. I also think Sony are trying to moneyhat it lol,” as a quote tweet to The Game Awards account asking people to name their dream developer for a new Batman game.

Rocksteady is the studio behind the critically-acclaimed and fan-loved Batman Arkham series of games. These were action-brawlers were players could step into the shoes of the caped crusader and save Gotham from various villains.

The Arkham games were all single-player experiences, so many fans were disappointed when it was announced Rocksteady’s last game, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, would be a co-op game with live-service elements. It failed to meet the expectations of Warner Bros. but there is some hope for fans as Baker tweeted he heard it was a new game the studio was working on.

Warner Bros. has said it plans to pivot away from “volatile” triple-A games and instead focus on live-service ones, a move that appears counterintuitive given the failure of Suicide Squad and success of Hogwarts Legacy. This shift could involve expanding into the mobile and multiplatform free-to-play markets, where some games can hit it big.

Warner Bros. is currently overseeing development of the upcoming Wonder Woman game. It’s been a while since we got any official news, but recent alleged leaks state the plot of the game revolves around sorceress Circe invading Wonder Woman’s homeland of Themyscira with an army of creatures.
