The Emily In Paris star spoke about her dad’s music during a recent interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.
After joking that she attended her first live concert while she was still “in a stomach”, Lily was asked to share her favourite Phil Collins track.
“Probably ‘In The Air Tonight’,” she responded in the show’s ‘Clubhouse Jukebox’ segment, singling out Phil’s 1981 debut solo single. “I don’t know, there’s too many.”
Cohen then asked the actor if she had a favourite Genesis song, to which she replied: “Ooh, I don’t know…”

Lily continued: “The funny thing is that I have these memories as a kid of songs that I don’t know if they’re actually real.
“Because they were in my head as I was maybe in the womb. But then when I went to the first Genesis concert that I actually remembered as an adult, there were songs that came on that I went, ‘That’s a real song?’ I thought that was just a melody in my head. It was really weird.”
Genesis first broke up in 2000 when Lily was 11 years old. Their 15th and final studio album, ‘Calling All Stations’, was released in 1997.
Lily appeared on Watch What Happens Live… alongside her Emily In Paris co-star Ashley Park – who shared her go-to karaoke song, first concert, song of the summer 2024 and more. Watch the video above.
In 2022, Lily paid tribute to her father after Genesis performed their final-ever live show together at The O2 in London. “Tonite marks the end of an era,” she wrote as the caption to a series of images and videos from the gig.
“To have witnessed this last show was truly the memory of a lifetime and an event I shall hold in my heart forever.” She went on to thank Genesis “for the memories” and called her dad “such an inspiration”.
Phil performed in a chair at the concert. He suffered a spinal injury in 2007, which damaged vertebrae in his upper neck and also left him with nerve damage. The injury has impacted his ability to perform.
In March 2023, his former bandmate Mike Rutherford said Phil was “much more immobile than he used to be”. “But at the tour, he was in good spirits,” the guitarist and bassist explained.
“He’s fine now at home, enjoying life. He’s worked so hard over the years. I think he’s enjoying his time at home.”
However, it was reported last month that Phil was working on new music for the first time in over 20 years. The revelation came via a Facebook post from record producer and journalist Simon Napier-Bell.
