Ringo Starr cancels remaining 2024 US tour dates due to illness

"Ringo and the All Starrs send peace and love to their fans and hope to see them soon"

Ringo Starr has cut his 2024 autumn US tour short due to illness.

The former Beatles drummer was scheduled to perform at TD Pavilion at The Mann in Philadelphia on Tuesday (September 24) and Wednesday (25) at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

“Ringo has come down with a cold and after consulting a doctor he was advised to cancel these two remaining shows and get rest,” a representative for the musician shared online.

Ticket holders will be notified of the cancellation via email and will be refunded at their point of purchase.

“As always, Ringo and the All Starrs send peace and love to their fans and hope to see them soon,” a post on social media concluded.

The Beatles star and his band embarked on their latest tour on September 7 in San Diego, performing a total of 10 shows before falling ill.

Just under a week ago, the artist shared a post of highlights from the tour to social media, writing: “Just want to thank all the great audiences so far – I love you all. Peace & love from Ringo and the boys.”

Back in April, Starr released his new EP with The Strokes‘ guitarist Nick Valensi, ‘Crooked Boy’, which became available on streaming after being originally released on exclusive vinyl for Record Store Day.

The four-track EP was co-written with Linda Perry, who Starr previously worked with on the tracks ‘Coming Undone’ and ‘Everyone And Everything’.

“I love what Linda did and I think all the songs are all great but one thing I did ask her was to write me a rocker,” the drummer said in a statement. “And that’s ‘Gonna Need Someone’ and I love it! Nick Valensi plays guitars on it — and on all of the EP — and he is great.”

He’s still at work on a full country project with T Bone Burnett. Over the summer he told Fox News that one song Burnett wrote for him was “absolutely one of the most beautiful country songs I ever heard. So, I thought, ‘I’m going to do a country EP’.”

Meanwhile, Starr recently gave the newly restored Let It Be documentary his seal of approval, despite previously claiming that there was “not a lot of joy” in it.
