Sabrina Carptenter scraps custom ‘Nonsense’ outros but promises surprise cover each night – starting with ABBA – as she kicks off world tour

The singer's next stop will be on September 25 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario

Sabrina Carpenter has scrapped her usual adlibbed ‘Nonsense’ outros and has promised a surprise cover during each night of her current tour.

Last night (September 23), Carpenter kicked off her ‘Short N’ Sweet’ headlining tour which marks her first arena tour ever at the Nationwide Arena in Colombus, Ohio. The night saw her perform a 21-song setlist with the majority of it stemming from her recently released sixth studio LP also titled ‘Short N’ Sweet‘.

The singer opened the night with ‘Taste’ followed by the live debut of her tracks ‘Good Graces’, ‘Slim Pickins’, ‘Lie To Girls’ and ‘Bad Chem’. Midway through the show, Carpenter performed her 2022 hit ‘Nonsense’. The live version of the track has become a fan favourite due to her custom outros for the song that is based on where she is performing.

At the show, instead of performing an outro for the track, Carpenter began descending beneath the stage while faking a microphone mishap. “We apologize for the interruption of our program due to technical difficulties,” read a graphic that appeared on the stage’s screen.

While Carpenter may have retired the ‘Nonsense’ outros, she has decided to treat her concert attendees to a cover song every night. The cover songs are chosen by a game of Spin the Bottle with her backup dancers. Columbus’ pick was ABBA’s 1975 classic hit ‘Mamma Mia’.

The pop singer’s show featured various vintage-inspired comedy bits such as her stage entrance being made to appear like an old-timey sitcom intro, with the singer not realising she was supposed to be performing due to her being in a bath. At the end of the gig, a video of Carpenter begins to play with her providing a pretty funny goodbye message.
