Listen to Sports Team’s sticky new single ‘Condensation’

"We had two years away from playing live and wanted to capture the physicality of being in a packed room with people you love"

Sports Team have released their sticky new single ‘Condensation’ – listen to it down below.

The Cambridge band have returned with the latest single from their latest album ‘Boys These Days‘, which is set for release February 28, 2025 via Distiller Records and Bright Antenna. So far, the band have shared the Bryan Ferry-inspired ‘I’m In Love (Subaru)’ as well.

Speaking about ‘Condensation’, lyricist Rob Knaggs said: “It’s a song about sweat. We had two years away from playing live and wanted to capture the physicality of being in a packed room with people you love. At a gig or anywhere else.”

Sports Team last released ‘Gulp!’ in 2022, with NME rating it four stars: “Through it all, Sports Team are just trying to have a good time. It’s a relatable sentiment given these times, and whether it’s the escapism of the live show or their communal spirit, ‘Gulp!’ sees the band continue to build something to believe in.”

Shortly after the release of ‘Gulp!’, Sports Team announced they were taking a break from music, writing: “for the near-foreseeable we’ll be taking a bit of time out to sit in the darkness, see family, eat off plates with cutlery, keep our hands nice and clean, sleep in the same place for more than a night, and rent some distant Bon Iver cabin to turn out the heart-breaking and chart-crushing album three the culture has been wailing out for.

Speaking to NME around the time of releasing ‘Gulp!’, Sports Team spoke about their experience working with Jools Holland. “We went to his studio in London, which he has decked out like a train station and there’s all these incredible pictures of him with The Beatles,” Knaggs told us. “He was offering us sandwiches his wife had made.”

After recording 50 takes, Holland went on to discuss his favourite fish and chip shop, with vocalist Alex Rice calling him “a good bloke”: “He was obviously paid a fee by the label but donated it back to us, saying he knows how hard it is for bands.”
